a) Following the 2013 CAP reform applicable from 1 January 2014, intervention is open for the following products:
· Common wheat (up to a maximum of 3 million tonnes)
· Skim milk powder (up to a maximum 109 000 tonnes)
· Butter (up to a maximum of 50 000 tonnes)
Intervention may be opened for the following products:
· Durum wheat, barley, maize, paddy rice and beef and veal.
For the 2016 calendar year the limits for butter and SMP were increased to 100 000 and 350 000 tonnes respectively
b) No products were bought into intervention in 2013 or 2014.
In budget year 2015 (ended 30 September 2015), 17 254 tonnes of skimmed milk powder valued at €29.3 million were purchased through public intervention programmes. In budget year 2016 (ended 30 September 2016), 347 733 tonnes of skimmed milk powder valued at €590.1 million were purchased.
c) All Skimmed Milk Powder buying-in operations of budget year 2015 were made at the fixed price (intervention price) of €1 698 per tonne).
d) Based on EUROSTAT figures, total EU production for the years 2013 to 2015 is as follows:
